This fall break we visited Pearl Harbor. It was a moving experience (more on that later). Touring the visitors center, Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri (which I highly recommend) took about four hours.
Suffice to say, we were starving by the end and found a gem just a five minute drive away. The Dixie Grille.
You can get snacks at the main visitor's center and at the Missouri, but this is all chips, candy, hot dogs and nachos. It'll do in a pinch, but not for a real meal.
There's a restaurant in the air museum which is one of three stops on the complimentary shuttle. The visitors center and Missouri are the other two stops. You don't need museum tickets to eat there, but we were ready for a change of scenery.
The Dixie Grille was delish. Just down the street in Pearl City it's a laid back bar and grille with southern comfort food.
We had bbq chicken, gumbo, hush puppies and fresh corn on the cob. It was just what the doctor ordered. It's not fancy or chic, but the beer was cold and the food yummy!
Bonus: kids eat free on Tuesday so we saved a few bucks.
