New York City has an endless supply of luxurious and chic hotels, but finding one that's luxurious and kid-friendly takes some searching. The Ritz Carlton Battery Park fits the bill It is located in the financial district which wouldn't usually be a go-to area of NYC for families, but what makes it worthwhile are its amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and its proximity to the subway (red and green lines) that will get you uptown with little effort.
The hotel has a businesslike feel, but they still cater to younger guests. Rooms and suites facing the Statute come equipped with telescopes that give you a birds-eye-view of Lady Liberty. Our son loved it! The hotel has a treasure box full of little toys and trinkets at the front desk for kids and a decent kids' menu from room service. The Ritz is located directly across the street from Battery Park (ferry docks to Statue of Liberty) and grassy area where the little ones can play giving you respite from the concrete jungle.
An added bonus was the Statue of Liberty made of chocolate that greeted us in our junior suite. The food options are limited to one restaurant and room service, but there are several options within walking distance. The concierge helped arrange excellent child care for a parent night out, but otherwise I found the concierge desk only mildly helpful. If you're a coffee drinker, and what parent isn't, be sure to request that a coffee maker be brought to your room otherwise you'll have to wait for your first cup o' Joe. Alas, after nine days we were sad to say goodbye to our home away from home, but happy to have found this gem on the tip of Manhattan.
